OVERVIEW: Cultural transformation and complex change require not only the commitment from leaders within the organization, but also an enhanced skill set to accelerate the change process and sustain the results. Leaders must be exposed to the principles of LEAN. It is paramount for leaders to understand what areas of the organization LEAN should be applied to and the prioritization of LEAN activities. This education session will provide an overview, principles, and an introduction to LEAN applications. Participants will leave with specific tools they can begin to implement in their departments and across the organization focusing on eliminating waste, thus increasing efficiency, improving throughput, and exceeding customer expectations. LEAN for Leaders is a highly-interactive, dynamic session blended with lecture, simulation, and discussion.

PROGRAM GOALS:

Upon completion of these programs, participants will:

  • Identify the principles of LEAN methodology, including standardization, continuous flow, and built-in quality;

  • Distinguish value-added from non-value-added activities and specify the standard type of waste;

  • Apply LEAN process awareness tools in their organization such as Time Value Analysis (TVA), Circle of Work (CoW), and Spaghetti Diagrams;

  • Apply LEAN improvement tools in their organization, such as standardization, visual management, jidoka, and continuous flow; and

  •  Modify leadership skills to promote a culture of LEAN improvement in their organization.
